Storytelling, the language art that predates written history, is also a widespread, dynamic, and varied art form in the modern world. Professional and amateur storytellers entertain audiences of all ages. Storytelling is a key tool in fields such as health and healing, business, law, education, religion, and environmental action.
Everyone is familiar with the power and intimacy of one-on-one conversation. Many recognize theater’s magical capacity to open the mind to new horizons. Storytelling, a life skill with enormous communicative powers, combines these qualities. Storytelling transforms lives - and NSN transforms storytellers.
The National Storytelling Network (NSN)
serves individuals and organizations that use the power of storytelling in all its forms. Annual Oracle Awards honor excellence in the art. The national conference offers opportunities for training, networking, and performance. Nationwide outreach is extended by NSN’s on-line calendar of events and by friendly liaisons in every state. Through the teller directory producers and employers can locate performers and artist educators in every region.
NSN Members receive Storytelling Magazine and have access to NSN grants and to individual fiscal sponsorship through the Sponsored Member Program. They network with like-minded colleagues through Special Interest Groups and enjoy significant other benefits.
